You probably noticed that most characters have one symbol : Auriana (and Voltan) have “moon crescents”, Talia, Izira (and Xerin) have “diamonds”, etc.

However, the royal family of Ephedia (and Iris) has two symbols : the four-branch star, and the heart. We wanted them to have these two symbols since they are both the rulers of Ephedia, as a realm, and as the whole planet and main kingdom. The Heart is the symbol of the realm, while the four-branch star is the symbol of their magic. 

For Praxina, is kind of the same thing : we wanted her to be the “Anti-Iris”. There is a symetry between Iris and her, so she needed to have two symbols too. One for her magic (which is the “lightning”) and one for herselve (the butterfly). We chose the butterfly because we its shape could remind Iris’ hairband, and this way, we could give Praxina her own hairband too. ;)
