It’s done ! Finaly ! After 5 years of production, from the 1st episode of season 1 to the 26th of season 2 !
Thanks for all the people who worked on it, both in France and Malaysia ! And thanks to the man who inspired us to follow him for so long, director Jean-Louis Vandestoc.
Now, season 2 only needs to be aired, which should be soon, at least in France : You can expect quite a few preview episodes on our youtube channel for Christmas’ vacations, and the airing should start in January 2017. More details as soon as we’ll have them.
We hope you’ll enjoy our episodes as much as we enjoyed (and struggled) to create them.
Quick Answers to regular questions :
- Season 2 will have 26 new episodes of 22 minutes each, and will feature 5 new songs (you can find the music videos online on our youtube channel. At least for 3 out of 5 at the moment)
- The series is still mostly composed of “stand alone episodes”, but we have three two-part episodes that you shouldn’t miss.
- We suggest to watch from episode 2-01 to 2-26 in order, since some interesting episodes will come at the end of the season
- Lyna and Carissa, the two new princesses introduced at the end of season 1 will help Iris, Talia ans Auriana, but won’t live with them nor join the band. They’re still members of the Resistance, and won’t always be with our three main princesses. It’s a “Three + Two” team at this point.
- The tone of the season has evolved a little, and we tried to mix some more emotional episodes, to add some depth to the show. Be prepared !
- What about a season 3 ? Let’s say “maybe”. :) It’ll probably depend of season 2′s success. ;) And for now, all the team need a little rest anyway.

Ok, initialy I wanted to go through each episode before reaching this one (the 19th)… but I’m late, there are a lot of questions about it, so you all win : Time for one of the most important episodes of season 1. Today, we’ll tell you all about the Shanila !
What’s “Shanila” ?
It’s a very important moment, for every girl able to use magic on Ephedia. And obviously it includes all our magical princesses ! Indeed, Shanila is a phase of transition : when a girl magical powers are strong enough, she reaches the Shanila. It means her powers have matured enough to grow even more ! You can see it as a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly. Magically speaking.
In the process, the girl loses most of her hair, and her magic is a mess for some time until she learns to master it again : when it happens, her hair suddenly grows back, and her magic is stronger than it ever was.
How old were Talia and Auriana when they went through their Shanila ?
Both of them were about 12 years old, and both of them were considered “early Shanilas” : Talia was working very hard, so her magic was already pretty strong at this time, and Auriana’s naturally skilled to the point she reached Shanila quite easily.
Wait… but you said Talia was 8 years old when Xeris was destroyed, so ?…
So what happened to Talia after the events of “Xeris” ? We don’t have the full details, but it seems she was protected by other Xerin nobles, and remained hidden in Xeris for a while, out of Gramorr’s sight. That was when she reached her Shanila.
Seems like she was a little embarrassed with her hairstyle at that time though. ;)
Are the girls near Auriana her sisters ?
Who knows ?… She’s supposed to have a whole bunch of sisters, so… maybe ?
Did Praxina go through Shanila ?
Probably, yes, even though she never talks about it. And Mephisto won’t tell a word either…
What about boys ? Mephisto ? Lev ? … Gramorr ? Did they have Shanila too ?
Well, I’m afraid we have no intel about it.
Maybe they have their own version of Shanila ?…
Or maybe they don’t have anything at all, and it would explain why the most powerful caster on Ephedia are usually girls… ?
In LoliRock’s world, boys are stuck with whatever magic they have, and relies on devices, tricks and stuff, rather than raw power (like, for instance, Praxina or Iris)
Is Iris’ Shanila special ? Do all girls awaken super-powers like her ?
Haha. I won’t tell you everything here. ;)
Let’s just say Iris is special, as being the heir princess of Ephedia. She IS really powerful, and has the biggest potential : for her to go through “Shanila” awakens a part of her true powers… but she can’t use them at will, obviously.
Other girls don’t usually go through this much display of raw magical power… at the very least, Talia and Auriana didn’t… but who knows ? Maybe with the right circumstances, they could have a “Shanila Dress” too ? Never underestimate a girl’s potential.
Will we see Shanila-Iris again ?

Why didn’t you show Iris and Nathaniel kiss ? And are they officially together now ?
Well, there are still some people who feels you can’t show a kiss in a kid’s show… so we couldn’t at this… Maybe in season 2 we’ll be luckier ?… (and by the way, we were able to show that kiss in the comic book adaptation of this episode ! Hahaha ! REVENGE !!!)
And as for Iris and Nathaniel, even though it’s their second kiss, (and first real kiss, since the previous one was kind of an accident) they’re still as shy as ever, and never spoke of it again afterward. So, nope, still not a couple…

These figures remind me an old memory :
At the very beginning of the LOLIROCK characters creation I was struggling so much with Auriana’s hairs ! So I modeled her face+hairs quickly with clay to help me :-)
And that’s what I did when I had to handle a difficult shape/volume in an ambitious view angle. For exemple, this monster from season1 episode24 “Smart”.
Did you know we sometimes use clay when we create characters ? ;)
